Charles R. Knight
If you can recall going to a museum of natural history in the U.S. as a child and being enthralled by the mastodons, dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts depicted there, you are most likely recalling the work of Charles R. Knight. The Brooklyn-born artist spent his entire career doing dramatic sculptures and paintings of the world of prehistory.
Knight studied fine art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Students League in New York. His work can be found in the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum of Natural History and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, among others.
